Thinking of a trip to the Jersey Shore? Skip the crowded summer spots (or barren winter ones!) and head to Highlands NJ – the Jersey Shore’s best kept secret!
Instead of fighting crowds and surviving tourist traps, spend your shore stay as you should: enjoying life! Our restaurants are amazing. Most are on the water, lots have live music, and all of them offer high-quality dining. You can walk to the beach and you could also head out to the beautiful parks and trails that surround us. Go surfing or fishing, or take a brewery tour. You can charter a boat from one of Highlands’ marinas or hop on the Seastreak Ferry down the street and be in Manhattan in an hour. Far from a sterile or summer-only community, Highlands has a nostalgic vibe full of long-time locals. Highlands offers something for everyone, so take advantage of this slice of heaven before word gets out.
Check out our blog for more details on what see, eat and do in and around this fabulous place we call home.
GETTING AROUND: Highlands is only 1 square mile so it’s easy to walk EVERYWHERE – the beach, the ferry to NYC, restaurants, coffee shops, ice cream parlors, parks & playgrounds. Of course, it's even faster to get around by bike (we offer 3) and by car. There are four parking spaces in our driveway and free street parking all around town. Uber services the area. Scooter Dudes offer transportation via tricked-out golf carts for a few dollars per person. The station for the ferry to NYC is about 1 mile down the road with free parking and overnight parking in the satellite lot. We are a few minutes to the bridge to Sea Bright & Sandy Hook ocean beaches and activities.
